I was totally crazy, mad and felt in love with this song and its music video, It is really gay friendly, isn't it? and it anticipated freedom of expression before the Great Queens that came later like Madonna, Britney, Christina, Michael etc. She was really the first, at least I think... I was only 9 or ten.
